The Yorkshire Engagement Portal (YEP) is YHODA’s free data analytics platform! It will host a suite of data dashboards and resources that help to tackle inadequate or inaccessible data about the region's economic, environmental, and social equity status by providing users with easily digestible and reliable information.
YEP will host the Yorkshire Vitality Suite (YVS) which is a collection of eight data-driven dashboard tools and resources designed to help local governments and communities understand and analyse key economic, social, and environmental trends across Yorkshire and the Humber region.
YV Observatory will allow users to compare and correlate two indicators over time for all 15 local authorities in Yorkshire and the Humber region. Data will cover a 5 to 15-year period from 2010 to 2024.
Users will be able to explore 51 indicators split across 13 domains, such as Business and Economy, Community Safety, and Gas Emissions.
YV Industry will allow users to identify which industries are relatively strong/weak within all 15 local authorities in Yorkshire and the Humber region.
A breakdown will be provided for 24 industry sectors based on the number of businesses and the Gross Value Added (GVA) in a given local authority.
YV Jobs will allow users to understand trends in occupation groups within all 15 local authorities in Yorkshire and the Humber region. Where possible, the number of jobs or employees in a given sector for a specific neighbourhood will be provided.
A breakdown will be provided for over 20 sub-major occupational groups based on data that spans a period of 4 years between 2021 and 2024.
YV Neighbourhoods will allow users to track indicators over time in neighbourhoods across Yorkshire and the Humber region. Data will cover a 5 to 15-year period from 2010 to 2024.
This tool will support targeted service delivery and community planning by visualising trends at the level where real-world interventions occur; thus, helping to bridge the gap between strategic planning and local implementation.
YV Forecasting will allow users to predict how key indicators of social, economic, and environmental vitality are likely to change over time within all 15 local authorities in Yorkshire and the Humber region over a 5-year period.
This tool will support strategic planning and resource allocation by highlighting future trends across key domains such as income, housing, emissions, and population.
YV Policy Simulator will allow users to assess the potential impact of implementing policies or investments in local authorities and neighbourhoods across Yorkshire and the Humber.
This tool is intended to support early-stage policy scoping and planning by helping to reduce risk and empowering the building of business cases.
YV Resources will be a hub for knowledge-sharing that contains a variety of free materials that may be of interest to users, such as:
Guidance and learning materials to support data literacy;
Methodological notes, definitions, and data handling protocols;
Map of Offices for Data Analytics (ODAs) across Yorkshire and the Humber.
YV Projects will showcase live and legacy regional initiatives that contribute to or benefit from YHODA’s data tools, promoting a clearer understanding of how local evidence is being used in practice.
This resource aims to foster knowledge exchange (KE) and reduce duplication by encouraging shared learning across councils and sectors.
Is YEP free to use?
Yes! YEP will be completely free to use and accessible via most internet browsers.
What type of data does YHODA use for YEP and where does it come from?
We use existing publically available data and do not collect our own. Much of our data comes from the Office for National Statistics (ONS), Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), and other similar bodies. We do not use panel data and instead focus on time series, aggregated data.
Can I download the data from YEP?
No, the data cannot be downloaded directly from YHODA. All of the data displayed is open source and comes from various external sources. However, we will provide links to the original sources so you can access the data directly from them.
How geographically detailed is the data on YEP?
Most of the data is available at the Local Authority level (e.g., Leeds, North Yorkshire, Doncaster, Hull). However, for our Yorkshire Vitality Neighbourhoods dashboard, we've made a dedicated effort to include data at the neighbourhood level where available.
Is the data on YEP kept up to date?
Yes, the data is updated monthly. Starting in June 2025, our main database will follow a regular monthly update cycle, aligned with the update schedule set by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) and other official sources.
Will new datasets be added to YEP?
Yes, we plan to continuously add new datasets, especially those that are most relevant and in demand. We'd love to hear which topics you're most interested in viewing (e.g., Housing, Employability, Health). Feel free to Contact Us and let us know!
Who owns the data on YEP?
All the data on YEP comes from official public sources. We don’t produce or own the data; instead, we gather it from trusted organisations such as:
Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC)
Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS)
Whenever possible, we provide links back to the original sources so that you can access and explore the data on your own.
